    WISP Network Engineer

    CVB delivers broadband wireless access solutions to customers in outlying areas of Placer County. Integrating the latest advances in wireless broadband, distributed computing, and Internet technologies CVB offers the “last-mile” wireless broadband. CVB is a rapidly growing company and this position is an expansion to our current staff. The position allows both home based telecommuting and field work in the Placer County country side.

    The Network Systems Engineer we are looking for will be jointly responsible for CVB,s wide area network services hardware, software and relevant utilities both at the head end and at remote pop sites.  CVB’s network infrastructure includes routing/switching, wireless, QoS/packet shaping, load balancing, SSL VPNs and network performance analysis. The successful candidate conducts ongoing planning and provides high level designs of complex local and wide area networks and continuously monitors performance. The candidate also manages and coordinates projects to build and/or implement comprehensive integrated system solutions, while maintaining a high level of service on production systems and anticipating future requirements, trends, and changes to assure current and future satisfaction of customer service within budget constraints.

    The ideal candidate will love the variety of networking technology and locations. A strong knowledge base coupled with hands on experience in wireless, LAN/WAN, switching, routing and firewall security is a must. The successful candidate must enjoy the interaction with customers and must be comfortable presenting technical solutions to both technical and non-technical people.

    Perform work on CVB’s data network systems to include systems maintenance, support, installations, upgrades and performance monitoring.

     Requirements

    The successful candidate must have at least 3 years of LAN/WAN experience. Design and implementation experience would be a plus.

        Full Time - Network Administrator  - filled
        Location:  Roseville, CA
        Status: Employee – Experienced, Non Managerial
        Experience 2-5 years


    Central Valley Broadband, a wireless Broadband Internet access provider is looking for a Network Administrator.  The Network Administrator is responsible for day-to-day administration of CVB’s wireless network, delivering Internet service to residential and business users in rural areas of Placer, El Dorado and Nevada counties. This position reports responsibilities to the Network Manager.

    The Network Administrator is responsible for major portions of systems support (i.e. routers, servers, email) and assists Sr. Network Administrator with the overall performance and availability of the network (7x24). Provides support for servers and all related network infrastructure. Resolves operational problems or issues under general guidance of the Senior Administrator.

    Job Duties Include:

            Troubleshooting when issues arise
            Daily reporting on system status
            New service provisioning
            Configuration, deployment, monitoring and maintenance of network related devices.
            Other duties as assigned


     Skills required:

           Basic network design
            Network administration, functionality, security, compliance and maintenance
            E-mail administration and maintenance
            Hardware support and maintenance (i.e. upgrades, patches
            Various Routing protocols including OSPF
            Mikrotik RouterOS, Linux
            Motorola Canopy
            Wireless backhaul configuration
            Second/Third level’ of support for IT helpdesk.
            Familiarity with SNMP, TCP/IP, OSI Model


    Four year degree in computer science or equivalent work experience in an IT environment. 3 years related professional IT experience. Must have knowledge of networking, systems installation and maintenance. Must possess communication skills to exchange information and resolve problems with clients/users/vendors.
